Volunteer Takeover
Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) is an annual UK-wide celebration of the contribution that millions of wonderful people make through volunteering. To mark the week, we handed over the keys to the Virtual Village Hall to volunteers and Volunteer Responders to showcase their fantastic skills and talents.
Royal Voluntary Service Chief Executive, Catherine Johnstone CBE, was live at the Virtual Village Hall on 1 June to launch the Volunteer Takeover. She reflected on the last year, thanking volunteers for their remarkable contribution and highlighting Thank You Day on 4 July, a nationwide day of thanks for those in local communities that have helped us though the pandemic.
Throughout the Volunteers’ Week Takeover, volunteers hosted a wide range of free classes and activities to join in with at home. From dancing to crafts, singing to Yoga, there was something for everyone to try.
