LGBT+ History Month 2025

UK LGBT+ History Month was founded by education charity, Schools OUT, 20 years ago. The month was founded as a dedicated space to celebrate the UK’s rich diversity of LGBT+ history. There’s a dedicated theme and focus every year, and this year’s theme is: Activism and social change, reflecting the way that LGBT+ people have helped shape and create social change.

During February at the Virtual Village Hall, we’ll be supporting LGBT+ History Month with sessions that reflect the month’s theme. Our guests this month are:

Stephen Hart: actor, radio presenter and speaker with the Terrence Higgins Trust Positive Voices programme. Stephen will be discussing his experience of living through the time of Section 28 in the late 1980s. He will be in conversation with Caroline Gillwood, Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Royal Voluntary Service.

Laïla El-Métoui, Equity and Wellbeing Educator with LEM Education. In Activism, Allyship, and Advocacy, Laïla will be discussing how to make a difference to the causes you feel passionate about.

Claire Bell, Deputy Membership and PR Manager from Listening Books, the audiobook charity. Claire will be sharing some book recommendations and great reads for LGBT+ History Month.
