Join Rachel, print artist and tutor, in this wonderfully creative workshop where she shows you the joys of printing with summer botanicals. During the session you will experiment with the beauty of summer flowers and leaves, using their natural dyes to create stunning pieces of printwork on paper. Suitable for all skill levels, if you love flowers and foliage then you’ll love this session!

Materials

  • x20 sheets of watercolour paper or thick paper (Rachel recommends 150gsm thickness)
  • x2 cups of brown or white vinegar
  • A variety of brightly coloured botanical petals such as; pot marigold, roses, cosmos etc
  • A variety of leaves such as; eucalyptus, rose, oak, sumac etc (Rachel recommends those high in tannins)
  • A few rusty metal objects such as; nails, tin cans, springs etc
  • Strong cardboard or thin wood (slightly larger than your sheets of paper)

Equipment

  • Spray bottle filled with water and 1tbsp of vinegar
  • Old saucepan (large enough to hold your paper and cardboard/wood)
  • Container of cold water (large enough to hold your paper and cardboard/wood)
  • Ball of string or x4 large bulldog clips
  • Tongs
