10 minute daily meditations

Tutor: Maximus Walsh, meditation and yoga teacher

Join meditation and yoga teacher, Maximus, for five short guided meditations. Each is designed to give an understanding of an element that is essential to an effective meditation practice.

Video time

10 minutes each

Meditation 1: Trataka

Meditation 1 is called 'Trataka', Sanskrit for 'to look' or 'to gaze'. This is a wonderfully simple practice that guides you to bringing your awareness from the external to the internal, beginning the journey of looking inwards.

Meditation 2 is called 'Anapana', Sanskrit for 'inhale + exhale'. This is the simplest of all the practices, guiding you to strengthening your concentration and understanding what your concentration is.

Meditation 3: Threefold Breath

Meditation 3 is called the 'Threefold Breath'. This meditation uses three different breathing exercises to guide you into shifting your awareness into different spaces inside of yourself, as well as giving you an easier method for sitting for longer periods of time.

Meditation 4: Bandhas

In Meditation 4, we work with the 'Bandhas', Sanskrit for 'Locks'. This practice is the most active of these meditation practices, guiding you to connecting to energetic centres of the body and harnessing the energy of your life force.

Meditation 5: Mountain Meditation

Meditation 5 is the last in our series and is called the 'Mountain Meditation.' This is a meditation using visualisation to see yourself not as your thoughts, but as the observer of your thoughts. It is this meditation that led to Maximus understanding how to meditate in the early days of his practice.
