Join Rachel for the seventh instalment of her Allotment Diaries series!
Join keen gardener, grower and resident VVH print maker and artist, Rachel Moore, for the latest instalment in her Allotment Diaries series. In this episode, a heritage seed order has arrived and we catch up with Rachel as she shares some of the stories behind the vegetables she’s chosen for her Kent growing plot. Rachel reuses resources from the allotment to create a larger seating area and visits the wildlife-friendly vegetable garden at Sissinghurst Castle. Planning ahead for spring, Rachel also shows how she prepares the ground for runner beans and French beans using kitchen scraps. And lastly, a produce swap leads to the first cook-up of the year. This video was recorded in January 2025.
In the Allotment Diaries series, join Rachel throughout the year as she shares tips for growing your own produce, along with the successes and challenges she faces each season. You’ll gain insight into what happens on an allotment, the unusual vegetables she's growing, and the wildlife that visits.
As Rachel says: “Don’t expect pristine produce or immaculately weeded, straight rows of veg!”
