The Allotment Diaries Part 6: Winter Allotment Jobs

Tutor: Rachel Moore, print artist

Join Rachel for the sixth instalment of her Allotment Diaries series!

Rachel Moore is a keen gardener and allotment grower as well as being a print maker and artist. In this latest instalment, we join Rachel at her Kent allotment as she starts off a few seed potatoes in the greenhouse - hoping for extra-early new potatoes in the spring. Rachel also takes a chance with some forgotten daffodil bulbs, puts in an exciting order for heritage seeds and adds a new bug hotel to make the plot more wildlife-friendly. Finally, with all the winter digging out of the way, she takes the opportunity to clean and care for her tools. This video was recorded in December 2024.

In the Allotment Diaries series, we join Rachel throughout the year as she shares tips for growing your own produce, along with the successes and challenges she faces each season. You’ll gain insight into what happens on an allotment, the unusual vegetables Rachel is trying to grow and the wildlife that visits.
