World Menopause Day is held every year to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available to improve health and wellbeing. We marked the day here at the Virtual Village Hall with expert advice and support sessions.
Frances Rayner, a personal trainer and midlife wellbeing coach, hosted an interactive session about Movement as medicine, discussing how moving our bodies can support menopause and ensure a strong cardiovascular system. During the session, Frances explored the cardiovascular system, its importance to health, how to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, and how to build healthy movement habits.
Jo Andrews, a Postural Alignment Specialist and fitness instructor, hosted a live Positive Posture session in which she demonstrated the Egoscue Method of postural alignment and how it can help bring balance during Menopause.
Dr. Nighat Arif, GP and women’s health expert, explored ways to support health and wellbeing during menopause and perimenopause, including HRT and alternatives for people that can’t take HRT, and discussed Menopause and cardiovascular disease which was the International Menopause Society’s theme for this year’s World Menopause Day. The hour-long session included plenty of time for questions, with links to support organisations and charities.
