Prison to Professor

Presenter: Professor Andrew Hartle, Consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Andrew Hartle joined the RAF in 1984 but was dismissed in 1997 after he was outed in the News of the World. He has now an NHS consultant anaesthetist. Andrew joins the VVH to discuss how the laws affecting LGBTQ+ people have changed in the UK during his lifetime, as illustrated in part by his own experience, and explores the state of affairs now. Professor Hartle is on the committee at GLADD – The Association of LGBTQ+ Doctors and Dentists, and is a Trustee of Fighting With Pride, the LGBT+ military charity.
