Gel printing with stencils

Join print maker, Rachel, as she demonstrates different ways to use Gel printing plates. In this session, Rachel shows how to make a special printing plate and use stencils to create quick yet striking layered prints.
The resulting mono prints can be framed or used in scrapbooking or worked into with other art mediums.
Preparation
Prepare your materials and find a sturdy table or floor to work on.

For the Gel Plate:
- 200ml / 7fl oz glycerin
- 250ml / 9fl oz boiling water
- 20 gelatine leaves
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Measuring jug
- A tray with a smooth, flat base – a shallow biscuit tin is ideal
For the print:
- A selection of acrylic or water based paints such as gouache in your choice of colours (not watercolours)
- Rubber roller / brayer
- Pre-cut plastic stencils or to make your own reusable stencils you will need; A design, acetate, craft knife. You can also make your own single-use stencils using paper.
- Paper 80gsm or thicker.
