Beef, broccoli and oyster sauce

This recipe serves two people.

Preparation

Cook rice (if cooking rice from scratch), marinade the beef strips 10 mins to one day in advance of cooking.

For the marinaded beef: 

  • 250g beef rump steak (finely sliced) 
  • ½ tsp cornflour 
  • 1 tsp soy sauce 
  • ½ tsp sesame oil 
  • Pinch of salt and white pepper 

Vegetables: 

  • ½ head of broccoli – cut up into small florets 
  • 500ml of tap water 
  • 1 small onion finely sliced 

Sauce: 

  • ½ tsp of chopped ginger (can use frozen) 
  • ½ tsp of chopped garlic (can use frozen) 
  • ½ chicken stock cube 
  • 2 tbsp of oyster sauce 
  • Salt and pepper 
  • Sesame oil 
  • 2 tbsp of cornflour and cold water (enough to make a paste) 

Rice (or you can buy ready to heat packets): 

  • 200g Basmati Rice 
  • Cold tap water 
  • Knives
  • Bowls
  • Wok/large frying pan
  • Pot for rice if making from scratch
