Christmas cake decorating

Join Michelle, our regular Virtual Village Hall maker and baker as she demonstrates some creative ways to decorate a Christmas cake.

Preparation: Set out your ingredients and equipment, preheat oven.

Video time: 50 minutes


Materials and equipment you'll need to take part:

  • An 8” Christmas cake, baked and cooled ready for decorating
  • 10” Cake board or large plate
  • A knife
  • Rolling pin
  • Pastry brush
  • 900g Marzipan
  • 1Kg white fondant icing
  • 2tbsp apricot conserve (other conserves will work!)
  • Suggested decorations: we will be making a snowman but the choice is yours
  • 250g coloured fondant for the hat
  • Chocolate Buttons
  • Sultanas or black fondant for the eyes and mouth
  • Orange fondant or a dried apricot for the nose
  • Festive ribbon or fondant for the scarf
