Hot cross buns

Not a fan of mixed fruit? Try adding chocolate chips instead!
Preparation
Set out your ingredients and equipment.

- 300ml warm milk
- 50g melted butter
- 500g bread flour
- 1tsp salt
- 75g sugar
- 10g yeast (or one sachet)
- 130g mixed fruit
- Zest of an orange
- 1 apple
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp mixed spice
- 2 tbsp plain flour
- 1-2 tbsp honey
- Mixing bowl
- Baking tray lined with parchment paper
- Piping bag with small nozzle or cut hole
- Pastry brush
You may also find it useful to have a scraper or a metal spoon to hand to help when kneading as it's quite sticky!
