Allotment Diaries Part 11 – Organic Slug Control and Successional Sowing Tips
Tutor: Rachel Moore, print artist
Join Rachel for the tenth instalment of her Allotment Diaries series!
Join keen wildlife gardener, allotment grower and resident VVH print maker and artist, Rachel Moore, for the latest instalment in her Allotment Diaries series. Rachel has been working her Kent allotment for nearly 20 years. With the sowing year well underway, it’s time to get stuck in!
In this episode, Rachel returns to the plot after a few weeks away and finds herself chasing her tail to catch up. She tries out some organic slug deterrents to protect tender seedlings and is getting back on track with successional sowing to keep the harvests coming. It’s a busy time of the year. This video was recorded in May 2025.
In the Allotment Diaries series, join Rachel throughout the year as she shares tips for growing your own produce, along with the successes and challenges she faces each season. You’ll gain insight into what happens on an allotment, the unusual vegetables she's growing, and the wildlife that visits.
As Rachel says: “Don’t expect pristine produce or immaculately weeded, straight rows of veg!”
This session is part of Men’s Health Week 2025. You can find other Men’s Health Week sessions on our Special Events page.
