A High-Intensity Parkinson’s Workout

Tutor: Sally Tawhai and Maria Lewis, Specialist Parkinson’s Physiotherapists, Reach Your Peak

Sally starts this High Intensity Parkinson’s Workout with an introduction to the elements that exercise needs to contain to make it Parkinson’s-specific. A 30-minute Parkinson’s specific Reach Your Peak workout follows.

No equipment required, just make sure you have adequate space to move around, that you are wearing comfortable clothing and have appropriate footwear to exercise.

It is also important if you are exercising alone that you have a means of contacting someone, should you need them. After the workout, Sally will be available again to answer any questions.

This session is part of a World Parkinson’s Day collaboration with Parkinson’s UK, the national charity supporting the Parkinson’s community, and We Are Undefeatable.

About Sally and Maria

Physiotherapists Maria and Sally founded Reach Your Peak in 2016. With Maria’s specialism in rehabilitation and Sally’s expertise in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, they designed an exercise class specifically for people living with Parkinson’s.

From this class Reach Your Peak was born – creating flexible, accessible programmes that people can follow at their own time and pace from their home. Bringing together a supportive online community of people living with Parkinson’s.

Reach Your Peak has gone from strength to strength, from the launch of their app, featuring on BBC Breakfast, and the development of a CIMSPA-accredited course to train exercise professionals in Parkinson’s-specific exercise.
