This quick 10-minute hairstyle lets you recreate a classic 1940s pin-up look, giving you a timeless half-up style with plenty of vintage flair.

How to do victory rolls

You'll need: brush, bobby pins/grips, strong-hold hairspray, dry shampoo or talc (optional), hair flower (optional).

  1. Prep: Side-part your hair. For best results, wash the day before or add dry shampoo/talc for grip.
  2. First Roll: On your larger-roll side, take a section from behind the ear to the parting. Lift to the height you want, place two fingers near the ends, wrap hair around them, roll towards your scalp, remove one finger, finish rolling, and pin tightly next to your holding finger. Add a second pin if needed.
  3. Second Roll: Repeat on the other side, looking away from the mirror to keep the roll direction matching. Secure as above.
  4. Finish: Smooth flyaways with hairspray, brush upwards, and add a flower if desired.

Tips: Always use two fingers to start the roll, pin close to your holding finger, and secure any loose spots before letting go.
