Stories of me and my family

Tutor: Alison, writer, writing coach, story collector and teacher

Join writer and writing coach, Alison, as she encourages us to write a book of stories for Christmas. In this series of six sessions, Alison encourages us to record memories and stories from our past, and to collect them together as a Christmas gift for friends and family – either as written texts in book form or oral recordings on a CD or MP3 player.

Throughout the sessions, Alison offers creative prompts to spark ideas and memories, provides time to jot down ideas, and invites participants to share thoughts or snippets of their stories in the comments, which are read aloud for the enjoyment of everyone listening. Finally, Alison shares ideas on how to turn rough draft notes into finished pieces, and how to collect the stories together to make a low-cost, much-treasured gift.

Preparation

No formal preparation is required but prior to the sessions, participants might like to gather together old photographs to help prompt memories.
