Furoshiki

In this session, Rachel demonstrates the eco-friendly Japanese art of Furoshiki or gift wrapping with handprinted fabric.
Preparation
Prepare your materials and find a sturdy table or floor to work on.

- Fabric – select natural fabric like cotton, linen or calico. For a more sustainable option, use clean, used sheeting or pre-loved shirt material. Fabric should be cut to a square depending on the size/shape of the gift. Common sizes are 45 x 45cm (17 x 17 inches) and 70 x 70 cm (28 x 28 inches)
- Fabric paint in your choice of colours
- Leaves and feathers
- Gel plate – this can be bought or you can make your own here
- Rubber roller (brayer).
