Visible Mending - An Introduction to Darning

In this session, crafting workshop facilitator Kim introduces us to the art of darning, a simple, fun and creative way to mend holes in socks or clothes.

This is a beginner-friendly tutorial; Kim will guide us step-by-step, showing how to use basic tools and simple hand sewing techniques to achieve decorative, functional repairs.

What is darning?

Darning is a type of visible mending – a sustainable clothing hack to mend holes in socks and clothes, in a simple, fun and creative way.

About Kim:

Kim Searle from Darn It! Workshops graduated in 2012 after specialising in Printmaking with an emphasis on creative work within communities. She now travels across the country to deliver creative sessions to galleries, groups, festivals, events and more. She also co-runs Thread Republic, a Textile Reuse Hub in Huddersfield.
