Overwintering Geraniums

Keen gardener, allotment owner and the Virtual Village Hall’s resident print maker, artist Rachel Moore shows how to bring tender Pelargoniums or Geraniums inside for winter to make sure they survive the cold, wet weather. Rachel provides hints and tips on how best to overwinter these lovely plants, and how to take a cutting or two to increase your plant stock for the summer.

Prepare your materials.

  • A healthy ‘parent’ pelargonium plant – this works for all types i.e. Regal, Ivy-Leafed, Scented, Zonal, etc
  • Multi-purpose, peat-free compost
  • 10cm pots or clean yoghurt pots
  • Secateurs or sharp knife
  • Jar of water
  • Pencil or dibber.
