DIY Paper Lanterns - Autumn Tea Light Holders

With the evenings getting longer, come spend some cosy creative time with Rachel and make your own glowing paper lantern. You'll use leaf shapes to print decorative papers, then turn them into tea light holders with a safe, battery-powered light. This beginner-friendly session is a great way to add warmth, pattern, and creativity to your autumn nights.

Preparation

Apply vegetable oil to the paper and let it dry overnight. Prepare your materials and find a sturdy table or floor to work on.

  • White paper (printer paper is fine)
  • Vegetable cooking oil
  • Paint brushes and/or rubber rollers
  • Acrylic paints in your choice of colours
  • Double sided sticky tape or stapler
  • Scissors
  • A clean jam jar
  • Battery operated tea light

Don’t worry if you don’t have fancy supplies—just use what you have!

Prep: Apply vegetable oil to the card and allow to dry overnight
