How to make salt dough decorations

Join craft tutor Katrin as she shows us how to make beautiful decorations using salt dough.

Prep: prepare materials, turn oven on to its lowest setting – approx. 50 degrees C

Materials and equipment you'll need to take part:

Ingredients: 

  • 120g plain flour 
  • 125g salt 
  • 125ml water 
  • Extra water and flour as needed 
  • Food colouring 

Materials/equipment: 

  • Plastic bags 
  • Mixing bowl 
  • Spoon 
  • Plastic knife 
  • Greaseproof paper 
  • Rolling pin 
  • 2 magazines of similar thickness 
  • Baking tray 
  • Textures materials/tools e.g. patterned lace, bubble wrap 
  • String 
  • Pen lid 
  • Cutting tools e.g. cookie cutters or plastic knife and card template or spray lid, biro body 
  • Card template/patterns
  • Scissors 
  • Biro 
  • Glue
