How to make beauty face masks

Join craft tutor Gemma in this 15 minute tutorial as she demonstrates how to make beauty face masks from kitchen ingredients – a natural alternative to shop-bought masks. Gemma shares recipes for five face masks for different skin types. A patch test is recommended before applying a full mask. Apply all masks for 10-15 minutes and rinse off afterwards.

Prep: prepare your materials and clear a space to work.

Materials and equipment you'll need to take part:

For cleansing face mask:

  • 1 x large teaspoon honey
  • 1 x egg white
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • Small bowl or mug
  • Teaspoon for mixing

For coconut face mask:

  • 1 x teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 x teaspoon honey
  • ¼ ripe avocado
  • 2 x drops lavender essential oil
  • Small bowl or mug
  • Teaspoon for mixing

Moisturising face mask:

  • ½ avocado
  • 1 x teaspoon honey
  • Handful of fine oats
  • Squeeze of lemon juice (for oily skin)
  • Small bowl or mug
  • Teaspoon for mixing

Hydrating face mask:

  • ½ avocado
  • ¼ cucumber sliced
  • Blender for blending

Exfoliating face mask:

  • Oats, soaked in hot water
  • 1 x teaspoons natural yoghurt
  • 1 x egg white
  • 1 x teaspoon honey
  • Small bowl or mug
  • Teaspoon for mixing
