Homemade meatballs with pasta

Masterchef winner Irini demonstrates how to make a simple, tasty pasta dish with meatballs in tomato sauce. Includes gentle instructions for any budding young chefs to join in with.

Prep: get all ingredients ready.

Materials and equipment you'll need to take part:

 

For the meatballs:

  • 450g beef mince
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Dried oregano
  • Fresh mint or basil
  • Salt & pepper

For the sauce:

  • ½ onion
  • 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
  • Fresh mint or basil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • Optional: stock pot or stock cube
  • Water

Pasta:

  • 60-80g of dried pasta per person

To sprinkle:

  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh mint or basil

Equipment:

  • Chopping board
  • Sharp knife
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Large frying pan
  • Slotted spoon
  • 1 large pan for cooking pasta
  • 1 large pan for making tomato sauce
