Working on the basic principle that water and oil don’t mix, print artist and workshop tutor Rachel explains how this transfer print process allows you to create stunningly graphic prints in seconds. Learn how to make a special printing plate and use it to make easy lithographs.
Preparation: prepare your materials and find a sturdy table or floor to work on

Materials and equipment you'll need to take part:
For the Gel Plates:
- 375ml glycerin
- ½ cup cold water
- 115g gelatine
- 1 and ½ cups boiling water
- A tray with a smooth, flat base – a shallow biscuit tin is ideal
For the lithograph print:
- Black acrylic paint
- Rubber roller / brayer
- Black & white photos from glossy magazines
- Paper 80gsm or thicker
