Welcome to the Virtual Village Hall, brought to you by Royal Voluntary Service and supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The Virtual Village Hall is an online activity hub and community, designed to help people stay physically and mentally active, connected and having fun.  Sessions are led by expert tutors and some well-known faces, and require very little space or equipment. You’ll find over 1800 sessions available to take part in, like creative arts and crafts, music and singing, cooking and baking, dance and exercise, and technology skills. Join in with live sessions or catch up on demand later at a time that suits you.

International Women’s Day, 8th March 2024  

International Women’s Day takes place every year on 8th March. This global day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and marks a call to action to accelerate women’s equality.

In March, we’ll be marking the day at the Virtual Village Hall with two special sessions.

Creative, arts & crafts

Arts and crafts can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. Here you’ll find satisfying, creative, hands-on sessions to get involved in, using materials and equipment that you’re likely to have at home. We tell you what you’ll need to take part and tutors will talk you through each step so you can admire your handiwork at the end.

Whether you’re a star baker or a novice cook, you’ll find some delicious recipes and techniques here to make at home. From lemon curd to handmade pitta bread, why not try something new? We provide details of what you need before you get started and, wherever possible, recipes use ingredients that are easy to get hold of and standard kitchen equipment.

At times, our mental health can come under strain which can make us feel unsettled, anxious and overwhelmed. Relaxing, mindful and gentle forms of exercise like yoga and meditation have been shown to have beneficial effects on our stress and anxiety levels, making us feel calmer and better able to manage the pressures of life. Here you’ll find a range of mindful activities to relax and calm the mind and body and information about the importance of staying safe, warm and well to support winter health and wellbeing.
