Make your own screen-printed hand warmers

Join print artist and workshop tutor Rachel as she demonstrates how to make delightful screen-printed hand warmer birds, the perfect thing to keep hands cosy on a chilly walk.   

Preparation: prepare your materials and find a sturdy table or floor to work on.

Materials and equipment you'll need to take part:

  • A piece of plain weave, fine net curtain 
  • An embroidery hoop 
  • A pencil 
  • PVA glue 
  • 2 paint brushes – one large, one small 
  • Fabric paint 
  • An old credit card or similar  
  • Light coloured natural fabric 
  • Scrap paper 
  • Needle & thread or a sewing machine 
  • Small funnel or rolled sheet of paper  
  • Rice
